SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — For the first time in Eisenhower’s high school history, their varsity tennis team tied for first place in the MAC Red Championship against Grosse Pointe South. But perhaps the bigger story is the Regional, MAC Red and All State Champion who led them to that victory, Peyton Mehr.
Peyton, a senior at Eisenhower, who comes from a family of tennis players, credits his team for the success, “My teammates are very competitive, and we push each other every day. I love going to practice and spending time on the courts with these guys.” Peyton said he and his teammates consider Coach Pearson and Coach Donahue “family.”
Nicholle Mehr, Peyton’s mom, said “I’m blessed to call him my son” and describes him as having a positive disposition, impressive work ethic and a true gentleman.
In addition to being a star athlete, Peyton also holds down a job he loves as a server at Romero’s Taco’s and Tequilas in Shelby Twp. “He has an uncanny ability to balance friends, schoolwork, homework, chores, sports and the gym.” said Nicholle Mehr. Peyton is expected to graduate Magna Cum Laude and plans to attend Grand Valley State next fall with an interest in Biomedical Engineering.
Next time you’re visiting Romero’s Tacos and Tequilas, congratulate Peyton on a fantastic high school athletic career and wish him well in the future.
